History
Suya is a traditional spice originating from Northern Nigeria, Hausa Land, and is popular across much of West Africa. Smoked barbecue meats are prepared and historically made by Hausa men traditionally made with skewered beef, ram, goat or chicken. The barbequed meats are then served with raw onion, extra helpings of dried pepper and more suya as a finishing topping. Sometimes served with a serving of rice/ grain, plantain or corn cakes.
